Interview #week5

11 Nov 2015 we completed our 25 hours of our volunteer and decided about this day to be the last day of our volunteer that each one of our group members made interview with different of ZHO employee in same day.

I decided to be in academic classes, that has been applied in this year in ZHO. Student can be ready after getting 3 years’ study on those classes to work with natural people on normal jobs. Actually this academic section made specially for the students who are with high performance, that I meet those classes student and I saw some of them who got married which confirms that they can get responsibility and can achieve in this culture.

The interview was with their teacher Mr. Raga that he decided to be in Arabic language but I translate all interview under the video.

  

After welcoming

* can you tell me about yourself?

      I’m Raga Mutea, I have bachelor in Special Education and master from Ohio university from     America furthermore I started working with special needs from 12 years ago.

*How many years in UAE?

       From 8 years as one of ZHO teachers

*How do you can categories special need and do you can deal with them?

       Each kind of special needs it has private privacy and different method that you deal with also each person of those categories has different private method that you have use with him as well as in our normal life you have different types of people that you cannot use the same method of dealing with all of them.

*Do you have any message for people about volunteer?          

       Most important thing in volunteer to volunteer in long term. I have message for the community to volunteer, knowing UAE full cultured about that. Volunteer not just during our work period while we have to volunteer in and out our work.

Finally, I thanked him about giving us some of his important time.

Nov 3, 2015 was our fourth day of our volunteer that there was UAE Election Day (Flag day) events in ZHO. Sheikh Khalid bin Zayed was one of the participants of flag day events that which enhance our volunteer duty because as we know sheikh Khalid one of the members of the ruling family in the UAE which mean he have choice and authority for doing his other jobs but he preferred to be with special needs events on that day.

I joined two workshops, in first period I was with my special needs friends who are on Iron and Welding that I was with them in proposing of volunteer for helping the staff there also for helping the special needs. I meet Mr. Hellal Albloushi how was their teacher and he was telling me about his basic job that I surprised he is business man but just he is coming to ZHO for volunteer and spending his time in helping special needs.

Second period was in Knitting and weaving with their teacher Talal Alhashemi. Most of his workshop students was in more difficult situation than other workshop but they still producer and can achieve that not only for special needs, that each one of us in this world is cant bid but we need for someone who guide us to be capable to know what is the right and what is the the wrong also how to achieve our duties. 

Advice

 That I saw a lot of behaviors that need to be improved in those special needs who are 90% natural because they think them self over other special needs cause bad effect to their ethical habit so that there is need for giving students who are on that level more special ethical lectures which will enhance their behaviors.     

week3 of volunteer

Week3 (volunteering)

Nothing you can get it from first time, that which called experience. In third week of our volunteering I been more enthusiastic to volunteer. Very great feeling when you deal special needs and when you try to improve their talent. That really beautiful thing when you make special need feel them self happy and as a normal human being.

People fare to deal with them because they don’t deal with special needs before also they fare about unexpected habit from special needs that may they face it. However, after dealing with special needs more than three times monthly that you will know how to deal with them. I love special needs also the employee in ZHO love special needs, why? Actually any one who deal with special needs will tell you the same thing, because most of the special need are kind people and they learn and love to learn from you when teach them but with kindly way, (they doesn’t accept to learn from you if you were evil with them). One other important thing that some of them you have to be strict with them. In limitation you have to be their friend also to know when you have to be kind also when you have to be serious.

27 Oct 2015 was my third volunteering day that I joined two workshops (Electro Mechanic and carpentry2). When I was with special needs on Electro Mechanic workshop I surprised about our community service teacher Mr. Gregory that he was checking to our volunteering work. That he advised me to be more and more with special needs to understand them very will.

My second period was with carpentry workslop2 students that they were building beautiful small ships after that they had sport activities that special need was talking with me about their sport achievements either at the state level or worldwide. I played soccer with them before they sport teacher to come and I was very happy about performance and skills of some of them. After their sport teacher reached they had basketball class. That was another great day in my life. 

Advices

  I hared about agriculture department that great special needs students can join it and work there for getting a salary. My advice to provide more choices for them for example building wood factory, cable factory and so on for them. That special needs who got develop from ZHO and been ready to join actual work environment can have a lot of job choices.
